Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 October 2026

This policy explains what the Bibleside app for iPhone and Android stores about you, why, who processes it for us, and how you delete it.

Who we are

Bibleside is provided by Apex Technology Enterprises Ltd, 167-169 Great Portland Street, Fifth Floor, London W1W 5PF, United Kingdom, company number 15019510. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Contact us at [email protected].

What we store

Your account

You sign in with Apple, Google or an email address, through Firebase Authentication. Your account has an identifier, and everything below is filed under it.

Your account record

Your study history

Each study sheet you open is added to your history: the passage, the language, the sheet's identifier and the time.

Your questions and answers

Each question you ask about a sheet is stored with its answer, the sources the answer cites, the number of attempts it took to produce, and the time.

Content reports

If you report a study sheet or an answer, we store your account identifier, which sheet or answer you reported, the reason you give, and the time.

Usage limits

Each account can request a limited number of study sheets, questions and reports per minute and per day. To enforce this, we store the times of your recent requests under your account identifier. These records hold times only.

Shared study sheets

A study sheet is stored once and served to every reader who asks for the same passage in the same language. A shared sheet holds no information about who asked for it.

What we send to the AI model

Study sheets and answers are written by Google's Gemini AI model. To write one, our server sends Gemini the passage, the study material retrieved for it, your question, and the last six questions and answers on that sheet. It never sends your account identifier, your email address or your name.

The app asks for your permission before the first study sheet or question. Our server refuses to build a sheet or answer a question until that permission is recorded.

When the sheet you ask for is already stored, it is served from storage. If your App Store or Google Play country is Hong Kong, nothing is sent to Gemini.

The app also sends our server the language you study in and your App Store or Google Play country. The country decides which features are available and which quotation rules apply.

Why we use it

Who processes it for us

Google Firebase and Google Cloud
Sign-in, the database that holds everything listed above, and the server functions the app calls. The server functions run in Google Cloud's us-central1 region in the United States.
Google Gemini API
The AI model that writes study sheets and answers. It receives what is listed under "What we send to the AI model".
RevenueCat
Records your subscription. Our server looks up your subscription in RevenueCat by your account identifier, and RevenueCat tells our server when a subscription starts, renews, is cancelled or expires.
Apple and Google
Payment for subscriptions through the App Store and Google Play. Sign-in, if you sign in with Apple or Google. Apple App Attest and Google Play Integrity also confirm to our server that requests come from the genuine app.
Cloudflare
The app downloads each chapter's text and study data from Cloudflare R2 when you open it. Cloudflare receives your device's requests for that data.

Tapping a Bible reference opens it on bible.com or in the YouVersion app. What happens there is covered by YouVersion's own privacy policy.

Logs

Our server logs record counts, timings and error types. They do not contain the text of your questions, or the reason you give when you report something.

How long we keep it

Your account record, your study history, your questions and answers, and your reports are kept until you delete them or delete your account.

Deleting your data

Deleting your account removes your account record, your study history, your questions and answers, and every report you made. See Delete your account for how.

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we publish the new version on this page with a new date.
